Sometimes charitable initiatives are undertaken by people from all walks of life for specific one-off purposes, and these need encouragement and support to get off the ground.
The Bertarelli family are regularly approached for assistance across a wide range of initiatives, and carefully consider these in the context of their values and principles. They have a particular interest in supporting causes for children and women, especially in underdeveloped areas of the world, without forgetting their roots in Switzerland and Italy.
Over the past few years, members of the Bertarelli family have supported organisations such as Smiling Children, Action Sabrina, Little Dreams, Associazione Mary Poppins, Fondation ProRea, Facing the World, ARK (Absolute Return for Kids), Swiss Red Cross, Accordia...
In this new phase, while still sponsoring other charities, the Bertarelli Foundation intends to develop its own projects. Funding of a new wing at Henna Pre-School in South Africa is the first such project.
